3D Services for Museums

Using 3D technology we can engage museum visitors in new and exiting ways. Let’s encourage visitors to touch and feel your exhibitions, and explore virtual artefacts providing rich information about culture and history. Let's make a virtual museum together!

3D SCANNING

We digitize cultural objects and create virtual and physical replications using the photogrammetry technique. The scanning is done at your premises using special lights and setup without damaging the artefacts. SEE REFERENCES.

POST-PROCESSING

Producing high quality 3D objects might take time and slow down your digitization process. We provide a post-processing service to help you save time. We take your 3D scanning data or images and create 3D models for 3D printing, web presentation, conservation and research.

3D ONLINE COLLECTIONS

Versoteq provides a simple solution to publish 3D models on tablets, smartphones, web browsers and devices. Users can view, zoom, rotate and interact with 3D objects. 3D objects can be displayed in exhibitions using tablets and video projectors or published on website.

3D PRINTING & ACCESSIBILITY

When we obtain a 3D model of an artefact from 3D scanning, replicas can be 3D printed on demand. 3D printed replicas can be souvenirs or displayed in exhibitions to enable an accessible museum experience. Stainless steel, porcelain or playful plastic, there are many options for modern 3D printing. SEE A REFERENCE.

VIRTUAL & AUGMENTED REALITY

Using VR and AR to transform your exhibitions and provide your visitors an unforgettable learning experience. Our job is to transfer your ideas into exciting VR or AR experiences. Whether it is an AR treasure hunt game or a VR historical environment, you imagine it.

TRAINING

We deliver trainings and workshops on photogrammetry - a 3D scanning method using digital cameras to capture objects. We work closely with your cultural institute to develop a 3D digitization process and skills that work for you.

PHYSICAL MEETS VIRTUAL

PHYSICAL ALONGSIDE VIRTUAL

We can display a large scale 3D model of a small and fragile artefact, highlighting the key details of the piece. Museum visitors can zoom and rotate the virtual object using hand gestures revealing new details which cannot be seen from the original artefact.

THE SPORTS MUSEUM OF FINLAND

The Sports Museum of Finland has experimented with 3D technologies during the last few years. They improve accessibility by providing 3D printed replicas that visually impaired visitors can touch. Versoteq 3D scanned masterpieces of the collection and built a 3D Virtual Presentation on the museum's website.

TRANSFORM THE EXPERIENCE

with VR and AR

VIRTUAL REALITY

We believe in immersive storytelling, which visitors no longer see static objects placed in an exhibition room, but instead are transferred to the history or the objects' original settings where audience can truly explore not only the objects but also the stories behind.

AUGMENTED REALITY

Imagine history comes alive right where you are. By adding digital content, whether that is a 3D model, an historic environment, a narrative, or a video, on top of an artefact in real time, you can extend the museum experience beyond the physical environment. Offering interactive AR mobile games, such as treasure hunts, as part of your learning programme to make it fun for young participants.

FEEL THE EXHIBIT

with 3D printed replicas

REPLICAS FOR ALL SENSES

We can provide 3D printed replicas of fragile artefacts beside the originals and encourage visitors to touch and feel them. Physical copies make excellent learning tools and increase accessibility for the visually impaired.

USE CASES

Using 3D printed replicas museums can show artefacts in their original intended use. Replicas of vases can be filled with grains or spices so that the smells and textures allow visitors to better relate to the objects. Specimens and damage-prone objects can be replaced with their 3D printed replicas in exhibitions. Large or small objects can be scaled to a more fitting size.

FOCUS ON THE ARTEFACT

with feather light & precise custom mounts

Fragile and complicated shaped artefacts pose a challenge for mount-making. 3D technology makes the process of making custom mounts simple and different options can be iterated. Custom mounts can be built using millimetre scale data from a 3D scanned artefact.

Using 3D printing, we make seemingly complex-structure mounts that are at the same time strong and look almost invisible. Different materials and coatings are suitable to different objects, from small light to more heavy and complicated.
